Project details
Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Davagh Forest at the foot of the Sperrin mountains, where astronomy meets archaeology. The site known as one of the darkest locations in Ireland is an ideal location for visitors to experience crystal clear skies and views of the heavens above them. Our team were responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of all the AV hardware systems in use at the centre.
There is a mix of touch screen interactives, projections and a holographic display depicting in 3D the moons path around our planet. One of the key design considerations was to make use of the fact that the site is home to a working telescope which sites under the retractable roof of the centre. A live streaming camera was incorporated into the telescope to enable every display and the projection in the center to receive live video streams and commentary from not only the observatory on site, but also to accept camera streams from an array of telescopes located around the world.
Our team delivered this project in a very fast tracked fit out program and worked closely with the designers Tandem design, our client Marcon Heritage, Mid Ulster district council and the other contractors on site.
