Killarney House and Gardens

The interpretive center at Killarney House is the gateway to Killarney National Park. Rockbrook were tasked with the installation and commissioning of all the audio visual equipment.

Project details

This installation features 15 different themed spaces describing the history of Killarney house and the importance of the surrounding national park. Rockbrook’s brief was to design, install and commission the AV hardware and integrate into the seatwork’s provided by others in each of the 15 themed spaces.

Due to the age of the building there was a project requirement to protect the historical values of the structure. Among the challenges was the requirement to install equipment without altering the internal structure of the building. Other prevalent issues were the management of audio within the spaces as the design incorporated lots of adjacent audio sources. Directional speakers were used throughout in conjunction with background “white noise” tracks to minimize apparent audio overlap between areas.

The story is told through a combination of projection mapped surfaces, numerous interactive touch screens and directional audio components. DMX lighting is effectively used throughout to enhance the mood in each of the various spaces and to them apart from each other.
